Attaining his JD from the University of San Diego School of Law in May 2021, Chase Canevari grew up in Northern California where he worked summers in his dad’s auto parts mechanics shop, literally counting nuts and bolts. He also helped deliver parts to the surrounding county ranchers for their heavy equipment and farm vehicles.
At the time, he was interested in criminal law, wanting very much to “clean up the streets.” He took a job while in high school shadowing the deputy district attorney of Yuba County. That experience proved to be “way too tough.” Although he remained interested in pursuing a law degree, Chase decided he wanted to work in a legal field that would “allow him to sleep most nights.”
After high school, he attained his bachelor’s degree in 2018 from California Polytechnic State University, majoring in political science with a pre-law concentration. During those studies, he received extensive experience undertaking several legal externships.
Although his initial intention wasn’t to become a tax attorney, after taking constitutional law, he found tax litigation to have fewer gray areas, being more straightforward. He took more classes geared in this direction and excelled.
Hired at Brotman Law in December 2020, Canevari immediately started assisting our clients with limiting their tax liabilities, mitigating the situations they became extricated in, helping them to find financial security afterward. “Some of our clients think that their lives are ending before they come to Brotman Law and we get to tell them ‘No, you’re not going to jail,’” he said.
Canevari will continue facilitating our clients with their tax issues. He is also planning to complete his LLM with a master’s in taxation. Employing his analytical and writing skills, he aims to tell stories that can lend themselves to the field of law and taxation in a different way.
Together with his girlfriend Samantha, they are raising their Golden Retriever puppy, Murphy, who consumes much of their free time. Canevari is also a huge sports fan and an avid golfer. During weekends you will often find him on one of San Diego’s many fine fairways.
