At Brotman Law, Kari Fougner serves as the Director of Operations, managing all administrative functions with a focus on quality management, process analysis, and firm-wide training and education. She has led an internal data analytic project that provided strategic insights into firm operations and helped forecast potential issues before they arose. Kari also organized and completed a comprehensive 500-page training and operations manual, streamlining the firm’s policies and procedures and enhancing overall effectiveness and efficiency. Her passion for her job is evident in her dedication to ensuring that everything runs as smoothly and efficiently as possible.
Kari joined Brotman Law as a paralegal after earning an ABA-approved paralegal certificate from the University of San Diego. She was subsequently promoted to case manager and then to her current role as Director of Operations. Born and raised in Norway, Kari holds a Master’s Degree in Philosophy of Languages from the University of Oslo. She is fluent in Norwegian, Mandarin, and English, and has a working knowledge of French and Farsi.
Prior to her work at Brotman Law, Kari served as a Project Assistant to the Project Manager at the Nordic Council, where she facilitated financial and cultural cooperation among Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland, and Finland. She also has experience teaching high school in Norway and working as an HR Manager for a catering company.
Outside of work, Kari enjoys hiking the rustic trails around San Diego and exploring the beautiful national parks and reserves with her 95 lb. dog, Buck. She also looks forward to using the cross-country skis she brought from Norway, once she has the chance to do so.
