We are pleased to announce that Brotman Law, a San Diego tax law firm, has been named a 2018 Law Firm 500 Honoree awarded to the Fastest Growing Law Firms in the U.S.
Brotman Law is ranked 14th on the 2018 Law Firm 500, and has grown 693 percent.
“I think it is a major testament to what we do here, and it just validates the hard work that our firm does on a daily basis,” Sam Brotman, founder and owner of Brotman Law, said. “We are really proud of the platform that we have built here at Brotman Law, and I know we have a really bright future ahead of us. However, it just as important to look back and understand where we came from.”
Just five years ago, Brotman Law was an Ikea desk and a cell phone operating on a simple philosophy: give as much as you can, and as often as you can. Brotman attributes the law firm’s growth to the hard work of its staff and the efforts of its clients to refer new business. The periods where the law firm has seen the biggest growth, Brotman explained, are the periods that it deliver the best service to their clients.
“We take things very personally at the firm and know the stakes that a lot of our tax matters have to our clients, their families and their businesses,” Brotman said. “One of the key things that we have been doing as a firm is to refocus ourselves on the client and what the client needs, rather than to just focus on the problem.
“We have a really great client base that is full of really smart, hardworking, and enterprising people,” Brotman continued. “Our clients are sincerely appreciative of our efforts, and our clients remain the biggest source of our referral matters at the firm. Tax matters are such a personal thing for most people that I never believed that our clients would be so vocal in expressing their support and candidly sharing their setbacks.”
One reason the law firm works well with businesses and their owners, Brotman explained, is because Brotman Law is also a small business, and its staff understands the challenges, pressures and setbacks that their clients face on a daily basis. The law firm’s culture has been shaped by focusing on helping the client above and beyond their legal matter, and that “has made us a much better firm,” Brotman said.
Brotman Law has big plans for 2019. The firm recently moved into a beautiful new office space downtown to facilitate more community interaction. One goal that Brotman Law has for the next year is to promote thought leadership around issues involving tax, focusing on changes to the tax code and recent court decisions. Brotman said that the law firm has saved clients tens, if not hundreds, of millions of dollars by helping them to be proactive, rather than reactive, with respect to tax issues.
