In line with our big ideas, we believe that a winning tax strategy is a huge driver in helping individuals and businesses meet their personal, professional, and financial goals. We have seen the power of this first hand. Throw a rock into a pond for a business owner or investor and watch all the ripples grow.
We believe that freeing people from the burdens of their tax problems through tax optimization techniques helps individuals and business owners to become the best version of themselves. One of the biggest joys that Sam derives from Brotman Law is knowing these two things:
1) That we have built something that is a platform for positive change for our clients, for our team, for our channel partners and for all of our families.
2) That this law firm business is an ecosystem that takes care of dozens and dozens of people. It is the economic lever that provides substance, support, comfort, and joy for the people that touch and make an impact for our firm.
We believe that through tax optimization you can do the same thing for yourself.
Our definition of tax optimization is looking at the way businesses earn money and improving their relationships between how money is earned, how money is spent, and how much profit is left over to tax.
The key problem is that most people do not like to think about their taxes. We do not walk around in the normal course of our daily lives and think "How are our taxes doing today?". We get it. Read through some of the other pages on this website and the government can be a frightening adversary if you get in their crosshairs.
And yet, scores of people mistake tax reporting for tax optimization and scores of their CPAs are missing the opportunity to go beyond the tax returns and see the human beings that need more than just their taxes filed. And too many smart people misuse their CPA or go deeper into the single biggest expense that many people have each year.
On a broader level, we serve your needs by providing you with leverage by optimizing your tax efficiency. What you choose to do with that leverage and how far you go is entirely up to you. However, you have a partner in Brotman Law that will take you as far as you want to go.
We begin with a consultation to review how you got to the point that you are at now which will include a review of your last three years of tax filings. The purpose of this is to see not only how you, yourself earned money and were taxed, but also how it corresponds to your marriage partner and family.
The next step is our analysis to review you past tax filings and activity to better understand your history. After we determine your history, then we project what you anticipate your earnings to be in the future. From this analysis, we can then forecast what your income is going to look like over a five year period, keeping in mind your financial goals of where you want to be and the best way to get you there.
Our ultimate process performs three main functions:
1) Our client’s individual goals
2) Our client’s financial goals
3) The achievement of those goals with the accumulation of assets and the minimization of taxes.
Our function is not just to save you taxes – which, of course, is a byproduct of what we do – but to maximize your wealth and properly distribute assets for your personal, professional and financial goals. By making subtle adjustments through this process, we can optimize your taxes in some pretty big ways.
The last step of our process is to execute your plan. We can usually do this internally but if we need to bring different people in to effectuate your strategy, we have a wide range of resources to help you.
Little hinges swing pretty big doors – and that’s what we do.
I designed our tax optimization practice because I believe the best use of funds is with the individual or the business that has generated them. Tax savings provide for people’s quality of living, they provide for further education, and they create jobs. On the whole, there’s many exponential benefits that come with tax savings.
In teaching people and organizations how to maximize their efficiency, we are not only helping them save money on taxes, but also creating a much broader, more meaningful level of change for them.
