With a talent for fostering relationships and delivering top notch client support, Corine serves as our firm’s administrator and is an integral piece of Brotman Law. Corine is often the first line of communication here and facilitates the necessary support that our clients need and to enable our firm to run more efficiently to meet their needs. She is incredibly personable and extremely effective in her management role in the firm.

Outside of the office, Corine can often be found in the pool, on her bike, or on runs in and around San Diego. Corine is a dedicated athlete and uses her athletic ability to raise money for charities, such as the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and Smile Train. Most recently, she finished the 2014 Ironman Arizona and raised thousands for charity in the process. Corine was also previously a board member for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and was on the campaign team for the 2012 Man of the Year.

Irina Goldberg, Esq.

Attorney

Irina Goldberg is a tax attorney whose experience includes representing clients in matters before the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Franchise Tax Board (FTB), California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) and Employment Development Department (EDD). She defends individuals and business with serious tax problems and financial concerns in the areas of criminal tax, offshore accounts, tax appeals, audits, trust fund taxes, offer in compromises and more.

Ms. Goldberg received her Master of Laws in Taxation (LL.M.) from USD School of Law and graduated magna cum laude from Whittier Law School where she received her Juris Doctorate (J.D.) in 2009. At Whittier, she was awarded the Outstanding Graduate in Legal Writing by the faculty and received CALI awards recognizing top performance in her class for the areas of Federal Income Taxation, Corporate Taxation, and Advanced Legal Reasoning. Ms. Goldberg also served on the editorial board for the Whittier Law Review and took second place in the 9th Annual American Bar Association (ABA) Tax Challenge. She completed her undergraduate education in Political Science at the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Ms. Goldberg currently lives in San Diego with her husband, Alex, her son Niko and her daughter Clara. Outside her practice Ms. Goldberg enjoys a wide variety of fitness activities, reading and the arts.

Melanie Anderson, Esq.

Attorney

Melanie holds an LL.M. in Taxation from the University of San Diego and a J.D. from Thomas Jefferson School of Law. Melanie has a background in politics, banking and insurance. Prior to joining Brotman Law, Melanie worked in the legal clinics at her law schools including various tax clinics and business clinics. As a Junior Associate with Brotman Law, Melanie applies her prior education and work experience to assist clients in resolving their tax issues on both the state and federal level.

In her spare time, Melanie can be found sampling the local food scenes, doing yoga, or in the ocean. She loves swimming, surfing, snorkeling and being in the sun. An avid animal lover, Melanie can always be counted on to stop and pet the dogs she encounters on the street and can talk your ear off about her pets.

Kari Fougner

Paralegal

Kari is our multilingual paralegal. She graduated from the USD Paralegal program where she specialized in corporate- and contract law. She provides valuable support to our firm’s attorneys, making sure that all operations run smoothly and are done in a timely manner.

When she is not working, Kari enjoys rowing, cross country skiing wherever she can find snow, and hiking with her Ridgeback/Malinois pup.

Astrid Perez

Senior Paralegal

Astrid completed her B.A. at SDSU and then went on to obtain her paralegal certificate at USD’s ABA approved paralegal program. With 5 years of legal experience, Astrid is an essential part of the Brotman Law team. She is very diligent and works to obtain the best results for our clients.

Astrid enjoys having an active lifestyle. She likes to run half marathons and attend Orange Theory classes in her free time to relax and recharge. When she’s not training, she’s spending time with her family and friends in the beautiful San Diego weather.
